My dear reader, you’re dearly welcome to our series on Wealth. Last time we discussed, wealth influencers III – opportunities. We learned that the greatest opportunity we can ever have is the gift of life. Whilst alive, we need to seek diverse and related knowledge, as well as being intuitive. Also, we need to be strategic and do our possible best to prepare ahead of time, thus, being ever-ready. Always bear in mind that opportunity comes but to the wise.
Today, we shall continue with our series on wealth.
One of the basic things that can easily change the mood of an individual is money. Its presence has its own challenges but that can never be compelled to its absence. Money is deprived of mouth yet it can speak a thousand words in just some few seconds. Money is hands-free yet it’s able to reach out to the heart of many people.
Have you ever heard people quarrel, rejoice or become worried either in the presence or absence of money? Money can easily wipe the tears of a friend, reduce the burden of a neighbour and put smiles on the face of many individuals. The opposite of the mentioned is equally true. In my write-up, money is the root of evil, true/false? I mentioned that money in itself is neutral but the one behind the acquisition or usage of money makes it either good or evil.
In his book, “The science of getting rich”, Wallace D. Wattles mentioned that “There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life; and that desire is praiseworthy.” Indeed, obtaining a significant level of riches (money) is a key essential to life. Money has what it takes to make an individual either angry, happy, sorrowful, or cheerful.
The wisest and richest man in ancient times, King Solomon once said that “For wisdom is a shelter, and money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom keeps the one who has it alive.”[i] This means that wisdom and money can always offer us a significant amount of preservation, provision and protection. Money can protect an individual from certain arguments, emotional stress and even help to save time. But in all, we need knowledge and insight to attract more of it and to make efficient use of it. Thus, money is essential but it always need the partnership of wisdom.
Zig Ziglar mentions that “People argue that money won’t make you happy…but everybody wants to find out for themselves.”[ii] The bottom line is that life always needs a significant amount of money to add to its beauty. The absence or presence of money can even separate close friends, birth anger between married couples, or put smiles on the face of ones parents, loved ones, friends, and among others.
Money can’t always make you happy but it can always add up to your happiness. Hence, we entreat ourselves to have a positive attitude towards money, acquire it in the right way and use it to contribute to our joy and the joy of others. Keep this in mind; money always contributes to the mood of an individual either in a positive way or a negative way.
