The world and its systems are constantly in motion, and like a tender leaf sprouting from a branch being softly caressed and swayed by the wind so are mankind by the ever-changing world. Fashion trends come in and go, as they do so are the morals, traditions, and culture that had been established in ancient times. However somewhere in the distance the voice is still whispering, still standing and still enduring which says “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals and over all the creatures that move along the ground” (Genesis 1:26). Therefore no matter how much the earth will rotate around the sun, the world will revolve, the seasons’ change and fashion trends come or go, our identity and morals will always be found in whose likeness and the image we are made in for He says “I the LORD do not change….” Malachi 3:6.

From the above foundation one comes to the conclusion that in order to come to the full knowledge of our identity, we need to understand that our identity is known only when one knows God first. Our identity is found only in our God, the three in One yet one who made everything with just an utterance of a Word and that Word is living and is Jesus Christ for in Him all things were created( Colossians 1:16).  Therefore your identity comes neither from your parents nor friends, neither does it come from the clothes you wear nor your level of education you possess and the wealth you’re endowed with but it comes from the One who created you because He made you in His image and likeness.

Our discovering, who God really is on a personal level, is the discovery of our real identity, our abilities and the authority and power deeply embedded in us. Nonetheless, we need to understand that there is no way one can come to the true knowledge of who God is in the absence of His word.  Furthermore, we need to have our own personal relationship with Him where He reveals Himself to us and unravels the mysteries of His will and the misunderstandings or questions are cleared out. This is what the enemy always fights because once you come to the knowledge of who you are, you become unstoppable and his kingdom is left in confusion and is up for destruction. But today I will remind you who you are; I will remind you whose you are so that you will rise up and stand and rule!

Looking from the view of who our Creator is, He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and so are you. One powerful man of God, Dr. Myles Munroe once said “No matter the economy of the jungle a lion never eats grass”, in other ways it means the lion doesn’t become an herbivore because the economy isn’t favorable but rather the jungle will conform to the reign of the lion! The identity, reign, customs and the daily routines of the lion continue as usual. Same as you the young lion of the tribe of Judah, you are not bound by the constraints and restrictions of this world, you are called to rule and reign over all circumstances, to jump over every hurdle this life may bring and triumph over all.

Another characteristic is that He is the rose of Sharon, the Lily in the valleys, and made in His likeness (Songs of Solomon 2:2), you are a perfect example of sublimity, endowed with great beauty and a sweet smelling fragrance which manifests to all around you. You cannot be hidden; you cannot be snuffed out like a candlelight like a city on a hill you will rise and be You, and the whole world will know you and see you for who you are without any contamination of the constantly revolving world and its systems.

Created to reign, created to rule, created to subdue, as He is in heaven and so are you! Never doubt yourself, never quit. Take time to know yourself more by knowing Him and His word.
